Due to an interest of Sudan and its wellbeing, not only among the few Sudanese youths in Sweden, but also the considerable amount of Swedish people, the SSAYC main goal quickly became that of helping the less fortunate in Sudan.I CAREhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11566855033530783796noreply@blogger.comBlogger40125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5648243796989890197.post-44870498288540225292015-08-09T19:23:00.001+02:002015-08-09T19:23:25.435+02:00Visiting the Orphange, Eid/Summer 2015

So,

Here is a little update on what we did in Sudan this summer.

We were very lucky to be able to visit the orphanage several times during our two-week stay in Sudan. The first trip was made by Abir and myself the day before Eid. This is a big holiday in Sudan (think Christmas) and we wanted to see what the boys needed.

We meet the boys, who have all grown up so much since we last saw them. Most of them remembered us and some boys were new - but what they all had in common was how much they wanted our attention. They wanted us to play with them, show us their things and some of them just wanted to hold our hands and have us sit next to them.

When asked what they needed for Eid the boys, and the "moms" told us that they were all in need of shoes. It is tradition that one wears new cloths for Eid and most of them didn't even have a whole pair. They also needed linens for the beds.
The next day, Azaa had joined us in Sudan and we went out to but the shoes for the boys. We went to the local market were there is usually a big variety and prices are better. It was 40°C, the streets were full of last minute shopers for Eid and the streets were jammed. We tried the market and cheked a few stores, but the salesmen were stressed, it was crowded and we could not find the sizes we wanted in one place (we needed size 24-46). After a few tries, we decided to leave the market and found a shoe-store that was a little more expensive but our only choice.
After almost 2h, we had bought 34 pair of shoes and headed for the orphange so that the boys would have their shoes the day before Eid.

Unfortunately all the boys did not find shoes that fit, so we promised we would return with shoes for the remaining 3 boys.

After Eid, we visited a few more times. Me and Azza bought shoes for the remaining boys, deos, pampers, some lotions and other small things that they needed.

The last visit to the orphanage was two days before leaving Sudan and we went to leave envelopes to the "moms" who work there. We decided last year that we would be helping them also by giving them 1/4 of the money collected at the events. Not all the working "moms" were there, and there was a confusion on who was going to get money and who was not (the moms we help are the once working directly with the boys and not the woman working in the offices).
We decided to give the ones that were there the "bonus", and they we so thankful.
They got around 200 SEK/ 23 $ (alot of money for someone making around half that amount in a month for such hard work).

The rest of the money we took back with us to Sweden because we have always promised to do the work ourselves and not leave money in the hand of anyone else. When asked what they needed as the last thing they told us they needed beds, chairs and big furnitures that we did not have time to get.

Next time we will have to sort out the actual number of "moms" and try to give them the bonus in a different way to avoid confusions and also try to call the orphanage in advance to know if they need bigger things that we cant get in short stays.

Thats all for now.

Hi everyone! So last year we sent out the post bellow on our fb profile:

"Dear members, we need your help!

We are about to make a crucial and important change in the I Care project, a change we don't want to make without hearing from you first! A few years back we received a very generous donation from Kista Folkhögskola. The donation was made to help the nannies at the orphanage by giving them a bonus salary. These women come from very poor homes and do not always get paid for their work.

We have now used up the money for them and have to make a difficult decision. Our philosophy has always been that 100% of the money we raise through our events are aimed to help the children and renovate the orphanage. We strongly believe that the wellbeing of the nannies affect the wellbeing of the kids and the maintenance of the orphanage.

We want to make a change to be able to continue giving these women a bonus salary. This means that from now on 1/4 of the money we raise will go to the nannies and the rest to the kids and the orphanage. But before we make this change we want to hear from you! So let us know what you think. If we have no objections by the 7th of June we will make this change. Comment, email or send us a message if you have any objections.

As all of the members who responded were positive to this change, we are from now on giving a quarter of the donations to the mothers of the orphanage.
Hello everyone!

It's been a while since our last update, so here is some catching up on what's been going on lately :)

On December 6th, I travelled to Khartoum, Sudan to stay for a month and check up on our boys in the orphanage. Due to circumstances, I was not able to see the boys last year, so I was very excited to reunite with them.

It was so overwhelming to meet with them again as they had all grown so big! There had also been an addition of boys during this time, which now adds the number of boys to 33. I brought them some treats and was surrounded at the door where I got the most warming welcome, and of course, within seconds, all the treats were gone! I caught up with them regarding how they'd been and how school had been going for those able to attend. As for the boys who are mainly restricted to their beds due to their physical and mental disabilities, it was an emotional encounter as I could see how their faces shined up as I walked into the room. I played with them and asked the nannies about the status of their health.

Sadly, these are the most sick boys, and what was visible on first glance was that many of them had fungal infections and rashes on their skin. The manager of the orphanage told me that they still have a supervising doctor who examines them and ordinates medication, which they are now getting on a regular basis. However, as these infections spread easily, particularly due to the suppressed immune system of many of them, they have a hard time getting rid of these conditions as they spread easily.

Before leaving the orphanage, I collected a written list from the manager of the things that they needed. And so for the following days, I went shopping for the things on the list. The following supplies were purchased:

Pampers
Washing powder
Dish soap
Hand soap
Pig Paf insecticide
Air freshners
Dettol disinfectant
Clothing bleach
Body lotion
Cleaning supplies
Plates
Food blender
Custard
Cheese
Sugar
Tomato sauce
Juice
Cooking oil
Powdered milk
Biscuits

On the last visit to the orphanage, I delivered the supplies and spent time with the boys before departing and heading back to Sweden. As always, it is difficult to part from the boys, but we will soon be preparing our next visit to Sudan!

There are some necessities that are still needed at the orphanage, in particular we would like to renovate their kitchen as they are in much need of new appliances such as a refrigerator and fridge, as well as a stove and oven. We hope that we will be able to collect the money needed for these things during the year, so they can be purchased during our next visit. Also, we will do our best to stay updated on their health and help out in all the ways we can.

As always, you can place your donation in the following way:

Send your contribution to postgiro 536575-4
and state the name: SSA YC

For international contributions outside of Sweden, state the following info when making a transaction:
Swift/Bic code: NDEASESS
IBAN: SE7295000099605365754

We wish you all a great 2015. Until next time,

Love, Mae Suliman
I brought out my camera to capture this moment when suddenly one of the workers walked up to me and asked me to stop. I asked her why and she said " it doesn't look good that he's laying on the ground like that, Let me pick him up and wash him and put on some better close before you take a picture". I tried to explain that it was okay and that she didn't have to do that, but she insisted. As the day went on I noticed that she did the same thing with all the children. My intention was to capture reality with my camera and they wouldn't let me.I walked over to a friend who lives in Sudan and therefore knows the way things work. I asked him why they did that. He said that their mentality is like that. They see the kids as their own and don't want the rest of the world to see them in a compromising state, they feel embarrassed over it.After that I went around and played with the kids and they were just so happy to see a grown man there to see them and to play with them. All of them wanted to high five me and shake my hand and just wanted my attention. It felt like it was a real treat for them to receive all these gifts we brought them and to have an older "boy" there to play with them.We bought a lot of things and it felt good but leaving there I couldn't help to wish I could do more for them. I wanted to fix the whole place up, bring all the kids new clothes instead of the rags they were wearing, more books and pens and for their incredible small library, paint the whole place instead of the sand/dirt walls they had, replace the beds, have them engage in more activities. The list of things to do for these children is endless and I could go on forever.

Hello dear I Care members!

As you might know, we participated in the annual Haga Park picnic this past Saturday. This was a great way to hang out and spend time with our former members, as well as meet new people and share our project with them! We had a great time!

Also, we launched our new textile bags with the new logo and print (read the background story below*) which to our delight was much appreciated.

We would therefore love to keep this going and sell more bags for our members to use and show their participation in this great cause! :) As always, all raised funds will go to the orphanage Dar al fityan. The price will be 130 kr (including shipping), and the bag will be on it's way as soon as we have received a message (through facebook or gmail) from you containing a printscreen of your payment to our account (see account details under Info in our Facebook profile). Make sure you mark your payment 'textile bag'!

We still need to figure out how we can send the bags to our members outside of Sweden as well, along with the demand for it, so if you live outside of Sweden and are interested in a bag, please send us a message and notify us!

We hope that you want to represent this project by buying a bag, while making an important contribution at the same time!

*Here's some background info about the new bag print;

As we earlier shared with you about how we chose our new logo to capture the essence of the I Care project, we similarly wanted to have a personalized print for our textile bag that would truly represent the boys of Dar al fityan. Therefore, the print was taken from a previous hand print painting that the boys had made during a workshop in one of our earlier visits. This painting, a long with other canvas paintings, was later auctioned out at our event in june 2011 in order to raise money for the orphanage. For us, the playfulness of this print represents the significance of letting children be just that: children.

We hope that you are as excited about the new logo and print as we are! Please give us your feedback and let us know if you are interested in purchasing a textile bag!

And myself attended the Swedish Sudanese Association's annual meeting. For those of you who don't know, we who run the project ICare are board members of the youth committee of SSA and each year two of us are also board members of SSA. This year it will be Fatima O. and I, meaning that in addition to being involved in ICare, we will also attend the board meetings held by SSA and in that way be the "intermediates" between the mother oeganisation and its youth committee. The meeting (which could be attended by any member of SSA, board member or not) went on for a couple of hours and there we reviewed the annual report which included events of the past year, the budget aswell as future plans for the organisation. We are all looking forward to the coming year and hoping to organize exciting events in aim to raise more money for this cause! Stay tuned! / Fatima S.

Closets where the boys' clothes can be stored, since the ones they had were completely fallen apart.

Luckily, our uncle's wife knew a place that sold such closets for a very reasonable price. So a few weeks back, my cousin and I went with her to go buy them. Despite facing some obstacles during the process of getting them and transporting them to the orphanage, we were able to get them there safe and sound at last! to buy the supplies for the boys. We started off the day in morning by driving to
one of the biggest markets in Sudan named Souk Libya (Libyan market), which is
right outside of Khartoum. There we bought shoes (31 pairs!) and socks, as well
as glycerine and vaseline (which they use as body creme). After that we drove
back to Khartoum where we bought dry irons at the supermarket. When this was
done it was time to buy the rest of the things on the list. To get as much as
we could for the money we had we went to an inventory ('Jumla') where you buy
things in batches. We were able to find the majority of the things on the list
except for larger items such as closets and chairs.

Here’s a list of all the things we bought:
3 dry irons
31 pairs of shoes
36 pairs of socks
5 big boxes of pampers (6 x 13)
3 big sacks of powdered milk
3 big bottles of oil
2 batches of disinfectant
3 batches of flytex (mosquito killer)
4 batches of unperfumed soap
3 sacks of powdered soap
3 bags of onions
1 batch of dish washing soap
9 pairs of sandals
3 sacks of sugar
2 batches of perfumed soap
1 box (4 big packs) of diapers
10 spray bottles of airfreshner
3 batches of juice (powdered)

and finally, 1 box with 55 lollipops and 34 bags of chips as a treat.

We handed the things to the orphanage the day after, Tuesday. They boys, the
manager and the women working in the orphanage (the “moms”) were all very happy
when receiving the things that will all go to the boys. It really is a special
feeling knowing that the things you buy will make a difference, whether a big
or a small one.

We still have a few things left that we will do our best to find. Hopefully
this can be done in the coming days.

(P.S. unfortunately our internet here in sudan is slow which makes it a little
more difficult to update the blog with entries and pictures. When internet
speeds up a few pictures will be added to this entry.)

Keep your eyes open for an update coming soon!

Warm regards from warm Sudan,

<span style="color: #262626; font-family: "Lucida Grande"; font-size: 13.0pt;">Hey everyone!

<span style="color: #262626; font-family: "Lucida Grande"; font-size: 13.0pt;">Firstly, we would like to apologize for the lack of updates on
the blog. All of us have had much going on in our lives, although that is no excuse.

<span style="color: #262626; font-family: "Lucida Grande"; font-size: 13.0pt;">Now to the good news. This summer we arranged a fundraiser in
the form of a grill where approximately 3000 kr were raised. At the en of December some of us, Abir, Mae, Maha, Fatima O. and Fatima S., luckily were able travel to Sudan. With us we brought the money that was raised in the grill and in the senior year project of four girls from Rudbeck gymnasiet, as well as money that we had left in the ICare-fund.

Two weeks ago we visited the boys at the orphanage. It was so much fun seeing
them again after a few years. For some of us it has been two years and for others three. We asked the manager of the orphanage to, as usual, write us a list of the
things that they are in need of. This list included things such as diapers, soap,
sugar, shoes, socks, sandals, cooking oil etc.

<span style="color: #262626; font-family: "Lucida Grande"; font-size: 13.0pt;">Unfortunately, Abir, Mae and Maha were only in Sudan for the
first visit to the orphanage. However, we (the two Fatimas) stayed longer than the rest and were therefore able to go buy the things and give them to the boys.

Last Saturday we hosted an event, although
this time around we did something rather unusual in comparison to our previous
events. This year, we decided to take things outside and organize a barbecue
where anyone and everyone was invited. The event took place in
Rålambhovsparken, an inner city park, and there was a total turnout of around 50 people.
The barbecue was a pleasant mix of eating, chatting and playing games. During
the event we sold pins and accessories that had been handmade in Sudan. This,
in addition to donations that were made added up to approximately 3000 kr that
will all go to the boys of the
orphanage.

We would like to thank everyone who attended the event for a very enjoyable
evening. Words cannot express our gratitude towards everyone who is supportive
of this mission to make a better living for the boys.

We would also like to give a big thanks to 4 girls in Rudbeck Gymnasiet who decided to devote their senior project to raising money for the boys. Throughout
the schoolyear of 2012/13 they have in various ways raised money which
ultimately added up to a total of approximately 3000 kr.

Events like these will definitely be made in the future and we are looking
forward to the next one. We will keep you updated on the progress of this
project and if you have any questions or thoughts, do not hesitate to contact
us. Once again, thank you all!

and now we're giving you the chance to give away a christmas gift that shows you care! It can be difficult in the midst of all christmas stress to always remember what giving is all about. Let's give away the things that actually make a difference - and helps people who are in need. Our current event launch is for all of you who wants to give away a gift that makes a real difference. Make a donation for I Care and give it away as a gift to your mom, dad, a friend or anyone that you want.
For my last visit to the orphanage (30/7) I gave the working "mothers" a small "salary". This money we try to give to the 13 hard working woman a few times each year. These woman are working day and night for the boys and get paid very little for their hard work so we decided a few years ago that this could motivate them. This money that is given comes from elsewhere and is NOT the money that we collect for the boys. The money for the boys is for them only!

For this time, each worker got 240 Sudanese pounds which is not that much money i felt at first, but due to escalations in prices in Sudan this was not bad at all. It was really satisfying and amazing to see the faces of these woman when they received their envelopes with money. Each of them signed a paper saying that she received the money and with every signature came nice words and smiles that made my day.

The other thing that I did was giving Bakri, the oldest boy who is studying french in University, a laptop that was bought for him. This will help him with his studies and he also said that he will enter a competition next year in some sort of french writing. We hope that this will make him get the best grades in his class next year as well!

The sicker and smaller kids that are in bed have a TV in their room now that they are really enjoying and the older and healthier boys have been given a bigger TV that has been put up on the wall for them. The place looks overall a lot better than before, medication is being supplied to the sick kids and the bathrooms have been fixed by someone which we don't know of. There is one big bathroom with a bathtub inside and then several smaller bathrooms outside that the boys can use by themselves.
Today my uncle's wife and I headed out at noon to get the final things on the list of needs.
Many of the needs for this visit have been food items and this is due to food prices going up more than affordable for most people in the country. Some of the things that are getting really expensive are sugar, milk, rice - which are all things I was asked to buy.

For today's visit I got to take some pictures but these were very few and I was disappointed that I could not take more pictures or film. There have been problems before with pictures taken and getting into wrong hands or being downloaded online for other reasons than the kids best, so we really do understand that they are limiting photographs in the orphanage. I will try to get some more pictures next time I go so that we can use them in our coming events.
Two days ago I bought a mini laptop for Bakri, the laptop was used but in really good shape and was bought for a very reasonable price. We hope that this will help him with his studies next year and that he will once again get the best grades in his class!

For my next visit: Bakri will get his laptop and the mothers will get their "salaries" which are very needed in these days of expensive food and Ramadan feasts!
Today, Ragda and myself were excused from the very busy 3rd Eastern Mediterranean Pharmaceutical Symposium (EMPS) and we skipped two classes so that we could visit the orphanage. Today was extremely hot and the whole city looked yellow/brownish from the sand in the air.

After attending the morning sessions and having lunch we headed back to the hotel, changed quickly and then headed towards Sagana (the place were the orphanage is located). We bought more diapers because this is always needed, we bought 3 boxes containing 54 packets of diapers (324 diapers!).
We also bought a box of 30 soaps that they told us they needed the last time I was there.

When we got there we were so happy to hear that Bakri, who studies French in university finished his first year with honours and got the best grades in his class!

We went with one of the girls working to a market and bought some bed covers that will be used after Ramadan; for Eid. This is something they felt was very important and it is a Sudanese tradition which would make the place nice for the kids during on of the biggest feasts of the year.

As always, it was amazing seeing the kids and their smiles warm every single piece of your soul and body.
Ragda bought the kids sweets and fruits, and like I remember from the first visits, the boys are still huge fans of fruits and loved the bananas.

stay tuned...
Hello everyone!
First of all, thank you all again for the amazing support and kind donations! The development of the orphanage would be possible without YOU.

Yesterday, I was at the orphanage for the first time in 1,5 years and it felt like I hadn't been there for much longer. The boys are all grown, they are looking healthier and what caught my attention most of all was how many they where - there are now 32 boys living in the orphanage, 7 of the boys go to school, 3 go to kindergarten and 1 goes to university. There are also two older men that live their since it has been their home from childhood. These go to a special school for older disabled people where they learn how to do different things that could make them get a job and have an income of their own. One of them got married last year!

I got a list from the principle of the orphanage and a working psychologist of the urgent needs:
- Pampers
- Soap
- Sugar, milk, oil,
- Underwear, perfumes, lotions, detergents
- Water cooler
- Bed covers
- A dining table
- Two water taps and workers to fix water accumulation in the yard

Today, most of these things were purchased and brought to the orphanage. We got a new list of things they are lacking and also they told us that they will be needing help with getting electricity.

I am so happy that i have been able to go two days in a row, i really want to go tomorrow and give them money for the water taps and workers but i don't know if i can make it. The pharmacy conference i am attending here in Khartoum starts on Friday and lasts a week, but i will do my best to visit the orphanage during this week.

Lots of love from the lovely, but very warm Sudan
Hey everyone!

Hope you're all doing well. As many of you may have seen we have created a new event on Facebook - '10 kr - 10 days'. As mentioned in a previous post, the reason for this online event is that we unfortunately are unable to host an actual event this summer due to our different and hectic schedules. However, we obviously want to raise money as often as we can and considering the fact that Ehood is traveling to Sudan shortly, we felt that the best solution to the event issue would be to host an event online. We are very happy and proud to say that it has been very successful so far! With 3 days left (the campaign ends on Wednesday night, 4th July) we strongly recommend you to pitch in with your 10 kr (or whatever amount you are able - and want - to help us with).
Last Saturday, Ehood and Mae joined SSA's board meeting that took place June 16th in Rudan, Haninge where SSA president Ola Nordlund, treasurer Khadija Norell, and board member Nagat Abbas were present. We were told that a new branch of SSA has been formed in another part of Sweden (SSA Västra Götaland). Members of the SSA board visited the new SSA branch in Borås and Kinna. Khadija and Ola told us that they visited the Borås Zoo which was formed in connection with Sigvard Berggren bringing a lion from Sudan in the late 50's. His wife, Eva Berggren is one of the board members of the new SSA branch and she has also helped a lot with other SSA's projects. From now on Ehood will be responsible for sending out SSA's meeting protocols to the rest of the SSA-YC board. The meeting ended with a nice indoor picnic (due to the rainy weather) at Haninge's youth center located in the park.

Today a few of us board members sat down at a café to catch up on what has been happening recently concerning I Care. We discussed the most recent SSA meeting that Mae and Ehood attended. We were also filled in by Sevgi on what was going on in TUF (Turkiska Ungdomsföreningen), which is an organisation that I Care is cooperating with. In addition to this we came up with a few fun and simple ways to fundraise money to the kids considering that we are, unfortunately, not able to plan and host an event in the near future. We usually have a big event every summer but have not been able to host one this year.

You may not have heard from us in a while, but here we come bearing good news!
We are very excited to tell you that we have started a collaboration with a
project named ‘Perspectives’, founded by Theodore Bergqvist.

This project has an aim to aid individuals/groups, like ourselves, with their
desire to help other individuals.

In their own words, Perspectives describe themselves as follows:
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: SV;">"We believe in the
strength of the individual. That each and everyone can make a difference.
Everything starts with a sparkling light in the heart of an individual and this
is more powerful than everything else."

This is something that we in the I Care committee strongly agree with and believe
in, hence we are thrilled about this partnership and are very eager to see the
outcome.

Like ourselves, Perspectives is a project that strives to help others. Therefore, we
strongly recommend you to click your way into their official facebook page where you can learn more about the project and find out exactly what
they are doing.
Dear person reading this,

Here comes the last (best) presentation!

My name is Ehood Ali and I am the "president" of this amazing project!

For those who don't know what I Care is, then i can tell you shortly that it's a project under the Swedish-Sudanese Association (SSA) in which a group of girls are helping an orphanage in Sudan for mentally and/or physically disabled boys.

I am a 21-year old pharmacy student that lives and Studies in Uppsala. My family lives in Stockholm (sometimes in other parts of Sweden and also the world!) so i travel back and fourth between the biggest city in Sweden and the fourth biggest one very often. I'm raised in Stockholm and I've been to an English school since third grade and continued to do high school in English. Those who know me know that I love talking, laughing and making sure that every single second is spent wisely.

I love travelling more than anything in the world and I am so lucky to have been able to combine my passion for travelling and my pharmacy studies! I have been part of the board for Swedish National Association of Pharmaceutical Students (SNAPS) in 2011 and this has taught me how an organisation should and could work. All that I have learnt I have started applying to I Care and I will keep doing so to improve the project!

Through the years, we have been lucky enough to have someone from our board travel to Sudan at least once every six moths and check in on the orphanage. I am proud to say that I am the person that has been to the orphanage the most times (mohahaha) but I haven't been to Sudan in 1,5 years now! I am going to Sudan in July so I can't wait to be re-united with my second family again.

I can't explain in words what it feels like when we walk in to the orphanage and ten little boys come running towards you and give you the warmest hug you have ever felt. The boys get so excited and every single day we have to go home from the orphanage it truly feels like leaving a peace of our hearts, and I know i speak for the rest of the girls when I say this! When you go into the little room further inside, where the more sick boys are, and you see their faces light up when they see us - this is a feeling that is more than priceless. These little boys can't walk, they can't speak and some of them can't even sit up by themselves, but they have the most beautiful smiles in the world.

Knowing that you might be just a tiny reason for that smile coming out is something that keeps me going many times.

Last but not least, I want to thank everyone that has attended our events, donated to the orphanage and supported us! I want to give a special thanks to a few very special friends in Sudan (you know who you are) that have helped us more than we could thank for. This project wouldn't have been anything without you guys!

Much love and CARE,

Hello fellow 'I Care'-ers!

So the turn has come to me to introduce myself in the purpose of you getting to know us a little better.
As mentioned above, my name is Mae Suliman, I'm 24 years old and currently studying my fourth out of five years of Dentistry at Umeå University. Unfortunately, this makes me the only SSAYC (Swedish Sudanese Association Youth Committee) board member up north, however we have skilled the art of Skyping over the years in order to keep in touch and stay updated on the project despite the distances between us.

When I'm not juggling patients and studies, I meet up with friends, (spend more time trying to collect motivation to work out than the time I actually spend doing it), catch up with family and friends, and (if the chance is given) travel back to my beloveds in Stockholm.

As Maha mentioned, the SSAYC was formed after attending a meeting of the SSA in 2008, where we started discussing the need of having a board of youths directed to other youths with the common goal of tying a connection between young people in Sudan and Sweden.

Early on in the founding of the board, we felt we needed a project that would speak to our members in which we could do something for Sudan. At that time, a lot of aid projects were directed to the problems of Darfur, and although it was (and still is) in need of highlighting, we felt we needed to shed light on other issues in Sudan that needed attention. This brought us to deciding on focusing on the orphans of Sudan and the social stigma that follows them.

In the winter of 2012, I travelled to Sudan ahead of the others in order to investigate on the orphanage that would need the most of our help. After visiting several orphanages that had been suggested by our members and discussing them with the other board members, we realized Dar al Fityan was in the greatest need of aid. As soon as the other board members arrived in Sudan, we got straight to work in trying to build up the spirits of both the boys and the broken home they lived in.

We are all incredibly happy, and feel an immense sense of gratitude, in knowing that we are fortunate enough to be part of this, and further knowing that had things not happened in this order, we probably never would have been blessed enough to engage in this project.

Old members: Thank you for your constant support over the years, we couldn't have done this without you. New members: We are greatly thrilled to have you onboard this project and look forward to seeing where this journey will lead us together.

Much love!
