My Name is Fatima

Dear Reader,

My name is Fatima Osman and I am the second youngest board members in this project that we named I CARE. I turned 19 around a month ago, starting with my bachelors in Development Studies at Lund University the same year i graduated high school. I was intimidated starting a program where I was the youngest and least experienced student, but I now realize how lucky I am to have to have taken part of shaping this project. This project did not only reflect my personal interests, I learned, but also my academic interests.

Development Studies is an education that I believe teaches us about the structures we live in, and the importance of global case studies when analyzing conditions in developing countries. Coming in contact with the children in the orphanage was a subconscious drive for me to choose this education. My evolvement was rather spontaneous, later than the rest of the board members,  and a result of visiting the orphanage when in Sudan. Joining this journey has taught me more about myself than i had expected  and most importantly it taught me how I wish to interact with the world that we live in. With this said, the project has been more of a learning experience for me than an accomplishment. I wish to learn more from the kids that we have grown close to the past years, and I wish to share this experience with you.

My name is Azza.

Hello dear readers! First of all, i would like to thank you for checking out the I Care blog! We’ll try to update the blog as often as we can, so keep tuning in and keep yourself updated. Together we can help our kids in the orphanage.

My Name is Azza Ali and I'm 23 years old. I’m currently studying Peace and Conflict studies and Political Science at Lunds University. I just finished my internship with Amnesty International where I worked within public relations, representing Amnesty and holding lectures. Right now I just can’t wait to finish school and take my first steps into the real adult life. I live in Malmö where im neighbors with the beautiful Maha Suliman. I love it here, but right now I want to go out and see the world.

I've been working with the I Care project since it started and have fallen in love with the work and the boys. Unfortunately, due to school, and exams I haven’t seen my boys in a while, but I’m planning on going to Sudan to see them this summer, Inshallah. I’m so proud (and jealous) of my friends who have had the chance to see the boys this winter and the past, but my time is coming soon.

I'm Maha

Hey everyone!
I want to start off this post by thanking for all of the positive feedback throughout this time that we have been woking with this project. Trust us when we say that it drives us even more in trying to light up just the daily life of thes beautiful boys at the orphanage. I'm going to spend some time introducing myself as the rest of the crew, for those of you who don’t know who I am. I hope these introductions have and will help in making it more personal, and encouraging you in knowing that anyone really could do this. A little reach out or a little time off your busy schedules really does more than you think!

My name is Maha  Suliman
I’m 22 years old turning 23 this year, and currently live and study in Malmö (southern Sweden). I study public health and recently finished my bachelors degree and am moving on to do my masters in the same field. As most of you I’m up to my head right now with exams and assignments, and I think I speak for the whole gang when I say that as much as it can be a struggle trying to juggle work what with the project and school, it’s nothing more of a joy putting time down to work with the ambitious people I’ve been blessed to work with on this project.What got me to join the project was a meeting that I attended along with some of the other girls during the early summer of 2008. The meeting was held by the Swedish-Sudanese Association and among other things they were discussing the need of more young adults and adolescents to engage themselves within the association. We then decided to create the committee and after a few discussions on what we would focus on, we thought it would be cool to start some type of project that could in some way be linked to both Sweden and Sudan and eventually came to engage ourselves in the issue of orphans in Sudan. Thinking that it’s been almost 4 years since our first meeting and first event, I think it’s amazing how much can be done by just raising a single issue and watch it grow to something bigger bit by bit. I feel so blessed being part of this project along with my fellow board members, who at the same time are people I truly know, love and respect.

My Name Is Fatima S.

Hey everyone trying to make a difference!
To establish a more personal contact with the members of I Care as well as any other people reading this, we decided it would be more than appropriate for us to introduce ourselves, so here's my introduction.

My name is Fatima Suliman (do not get me mixed up with fellow board member, Fatima Osman), sometimes referred to as Tina. I am 17 years old, making me the youngest member of the board. I'm currently in my second year of Gymnasiet (Swedish highschool) where I study the Natural Science programme.

I haven’t always been a board member of I Care as I was too young when this project was initiated. Although, throughout the years I have done my best to contribute and help when it has been needed. I officially became a member of the board when we visited Sudan in the winter of 2010. Since then I have visited the orphanage several times during the two trips we have made to Sudan ever since.

Being known as very sensitive when it comes to the misfortune of others we were all nervous before my first visit to the orphanage, not knowing exactly how I would react. Knowing this, I was pleasantly surprised when we got there, as I realized that I was able to handle it a lot better than I had expected. I instantly fell in love with the boys and seeing that they appreciated all that they had and that little things such as a piece of candy put  wide smiles on their faces made everything so much easier and worthwhile.

I am truly and fully committed to doing my best to improve the quality of these boys’ lives, no matter what it takes. And with help from you guys I fully believe that we will be able to maintain achieving this.
Always bare in mind the people that are less fortunate than yourselves, and know that you can make a difference.

My name is Sevgi

Hello everyone

I guess it is my turn to introduce myself, so here it goes.

As the title above states, my name is Sevgi and I am 21 years old. I am currently studying the second year of the Economical Candidate Programme at Södertörns University, and I will probably graduate in June 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Economy.

I love spending time with my family, relatives and friends. Having a good relation with people in general makes me happy. I love music and I like travelling, since I am originally from Turkey I have had the opportunity to travel to Turkey and different places in Turkey. It is a beautiful country and really alive, there is a history in everything that you see which makes it really interesting.

I have not been involved in I Care from the beginning, but I held myself informed about I Care all the time since my nearest friends were involved. I love helping and I especially love children, I will put my soul and my heart into anything that has to do with children. This is the reason for why I decided to get more involved, so now I am a board member in I Care.

I have never met the boys from the orphanage because I have not had the chance to fly to Sudan yet. I will probably sometime soon visit the boys. Even though I never met them I can really feel them in my heart and I will do everything for them to feel us too. We have through time become a family so they are not only the boys from the orphanage but they are also our children!

I am sure many of you have already seen this, but i would just like to share it again.

Its amazing how the cyber world has such a huge impact on young people and how much can be done through it! I am sharing this with you just so that you can see it, im not saying its right or wrong, or that i know anything more about the actual topic but i just wanted our members to see it. South Sudan has been having similar problems to this and i have to say that it is beyond embarrassing, for the so called most advanced animals in the world, that this can still be going on.

The weirdest thing for me about this, is that this person actually has disgusting people that are helping him hide, or "we" are not looking hard enough? Can't really tell which one it is. No one is invisible!

Hello everyone out there who Cares

We thought it's about time we introduced ourselves to you. I think most of you know who we are but in-case you don't, we'll make it easier for you

As the title states, My name is Abir. I am 25 year old pharmacist who right now lives in Stockholm, Sweden. I am working as a medical information officer at the pharmaceutical company Novartis.

I have been studying pharmacy in Uppsala, Sweden for 5 years. Once i finished i was back in Stockholm for work.
I love music, traveling and poetry. During my time of studying I have been fortunate enough to enjoy a great deal of all three. But with anything I have done and want to do, I have had a big passion that follows me wherever I go. The passion to help.

I have always been involved in I Care, from day one. I am the vice president and in charge of most of the co-operation work (so if you want to work with us, let me know).

When we started the work with the boys, I remember coming to the orphanage for the first time. These boys where happy and not at all shy to us though we came as strangers at the time. And with time they have grown to become family to all of us.
